Should I put my home on the market now or wait until spring? This is by far the question I'm asked most during the fall and winter months. It's as if people think that those who want to buy or rent a home stop wanting housing when it gets cold outside. For the record, they do not. There is a steady demand all year long. Image by Tumisu from Pixabay Let's look at the potential buyers of your home It's true that a majority of families with school-age children prefer to move during the summer months when school is not in session. However, there are also families with non-school-age … Continue reading...
What are homes sales looking like in the U.S.
Pending home sales rose slightly in June, and the latest indicators are showing a housing market on the mend. Median existing-home sales prices in June soared to their second highest on record in the last two decades, and more buyers are facing multiple offer situations once again, the latest reports from the National Association of REALTORS® shows. NAR’s Pending Home Sales Index—a forward-looking indicator of home sales based on contract signings—rose 0.3% in June, the first increase in four months. “The recovery has not taken place, but the housing recession is over,” says Lawrence Yun, … Continue reading...
Will the real estate market heat up this summer
Will the housing market heat up this summer? 2023 has been an unpredictable year in the housing market. After the upheaval of the pandemic and the low interest rates we saw over the last two years, it seemed like a return to normal was coming this year. And one of the ways the market was going to get back to normal was that the hot spring selling season was going to return. But that never really happened. High rates and a stubbornly low number of homes for sale cooled off hopes for a hot market this past spring. Upheaval in the banking sector scared a lot of folks away from making … Continue reading...

Inventories in the housing market
Inflation and Inventories Recent inflation data has seen a bit of cooling off in the numbers which in turn has helped borrowing costs to decline. And with the spring buying season underway, lower mortgage rates can be an unexpected positive boost for the season. The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) reported that mortgage application volumes rose each week in March as the benchmark 30-year fixed rate fell a little over half a point from the beginning of the month, now in the lower 6% range. Also, the MBA said that mortgage payments increased in February but given ongoing economic … Continue reading...

Have homes Values hit bottom
Whether you’re already a homeowner or you’re looking to become one, the recent headlines about home prices may leave you with more questions than answers. News stories are talking about home prices falling, and that’s raising concerns about a repeat of what happened to prices in the crash in 2008. One of the questions that’s on many minds, based on those headlines, is: how much will home prices decline? But what you may not realize is expert forecasters aren’t calling for a free fall in prices.
