Time to Fall Back
This year, Daylight Saving Time (DST) ends at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 6. Make sure to set your clocks back one hour.
The end of DST can be a good time for a seasonal home checkup.
Here are a few simple seasonal home items you can check off your to-do list along with adjusting the clocks.
Check batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and flashlights.
Maximize winter energy savings by replacing old light bulbs with more efficient LED bulbs. Reverse the direction of ceiling fans for more efficient heat redistribution. Check filters for kitchen water purification and furnace.
Review your emergency plan at a family meeting to make sure everyone knows what to do in case of a power outage or natural disaster. Post an Emergency Information Page in a conspicuous location. If you haven’t already developed a plan of your own, Ready.gov offers tips and checklists to help you get started.
Enjoy your “extra” hour!
