“Can I get an explanation?”
We’ll make your report as easy to understand as possible, but we know it can still be somewhat daunting to go through, especially if you’re a first-time buyer or new agent. That’s why we’re happy to expand on any of our findings with a more in-depth explanation.
“Is this a big problem or a small one?”
Most issues we uncover will be small and easy to fix. Others may warrant a closer look and some consideration before you agree to buy the home. It’s in your best interest to ask us this question, as it could mean passing on a property or negotiating a better price.
“Do I need a specialized expert opinion?”
As inspectors, we know a lot about the systems and structures of a home, but occasionally you may have to call in a specialized expert. If we notice a problem that’s outside our expertise, we’ll note that we recommend consulting with a specialist to further investigate the issue.
“How do I maintain my home’s systems?”
Your inspector is a great resource for learning about some of the simple maintenance tasks you’ll need to complete on a regular basis as a new homeowner. We can answer questions about HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and more.
“What should my repair priorities be?”
Every home has a few issues, even if it’s a brand-new build. Rather than expecting your potential home to be perfect (or expecting the seller to fix every single problem), focus on prioritizing repairs. Any potential safety issues should come first, with minor repairs planned over time.
